Who is conducting the survey?
The survey is being conducted by researchers from the National Centre in HIV Social Research at the University of New South Wales.
Who can participate to the survey?
You are invited to take part to the survey if you are a man 16 years and above and are living in New South Wales, Australia.
What is the survey about?
The survey asks questions about your lifestyle as well as your opinions, knowledge and experiences in terms of prevention or management of HIV and other sexually transmissible infections (STIs). The objective is to understand what are the main barriers and facilitators that influence the way gay and other men who have sex with men manage their sexual health and do regular check-ups. Your participation is important whether you have had some experience with STIs in the past or not.
How will the survey results be used?
This research will assist in the development of policy and health education campaigns for gay men and other men who have sex with men living in New South Wales. The project has been developed in partnership so as to directly inform the activity of STI in Gay Men action Group (STIGMA), ACON and AFAO.
How long will it take?
The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete.
How will my privacy be protected?
The survey protocol has been approved by Ethics committees at UNSW and ACON. The initial questionnaire can be completed anonymously. If you register for the follow-up survey you will be asked to provide an email address so we can send you the link to the follow-up survey in six months time. Your email address will be kept strictly confidential and will not be linked to your responses from either survey. To enhance confidentiality you should provide an email address that does not include your last name.
Will I be paid for doing the survey?
There will be no payment provided to participants of this study.
How can I win the prize?
To be eligible to be entered into the draw to win the $400 voucher you must fully complete the two questionnaires. Participants who complete multiple questionnaires to increase their chance of winning the prize will be eliminated from the competition.
